The Cambridge CADASIL Meeting returned on the 11th February both in person and online!
In the morning Professor Markus shared an introduction to CADASIL. We were then joined by Alice Hamilton, Specialist Benefits Advice Lead at Cambridge and District Citizen's Advice, who spoke to us about Personal Independence Payments (PIP), what they are and how to apply.
After lunch, we had some exciting updates from the Cambridge Team. Dr Stefania Nannoni spoke to us about joining the CADASIL clinic in Cambridge and what you can expect when you are referred to the CADASIL clinic. Natalia Owen then talked us through her PhD project plans, where she plans to combine blood data, MRI data and genetic data to create a model that could predict disease progression and severity in CADASIL.
We then heard from Professor Hugh Markus who spoke about the current and ongoing research in CADASIL at Cambridge, followed by Dr Amy Jolly who shared some updates from the global CADASIL research consortium.
After a quick coffee break, Glenn Bate, trustee of CADASIL Support UK, shared exciting updates on fundraising iniatives. Finally, we heard a wonderful talk from Bryony Bradbury, who shared her journey in CADASIL and talked to us about how she left her corporate job to pursue her dream of becoming a full-time personal trainer!
