Experience from clinic and speaking with CADASIL patients suggests fatigue to be a common symptom in CADASIL, however, it is not well studied and its prevalence is not known.
A study of 174 CADASIL patients showed that fatigue was present in around half (51.7%). In fact, when compared to a control group of 50 people, fatigue was almost 5 times more common in those with CADASIL. Results showed that fatigue was commonly accompanied by depression and cognitive impairments. Both depression and cognition also predicted the presence of fatigue.
This new research confirms that fatigue is common in CADASIL and has relationships with other common symptoms such as depression and cognition.
