Migraine is common in CADASIL, but it’s treatment response and relationship with other symptoms are not well known. In an assessment of 300 symptomatic CADASIL patients, migraine was present in around 75% and was accompanied by aura in nearly 90%. Treatment responses to migraine were much like those in the general migraine populations.
When looking at the relationship between migraine and other symptoms, migraine with aura was shown to be associated with an increased encephalopathy risk. There was no increased risk of stroke associated with migraine.
